Janie Harris Martin

Janie Martin is a Dallas criminal defense lawyer and a Senior Trial Attorney at Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys with more than 18 years of experience handling felony and misdemeanor criminal cases throughout Texas. A former prosecutor, Felony Trial Attorney Supervisor, and Veterans Treatment Court Defense Counsel, Ms. Martin has spent her career representing individuals facing serious criminal allegations and navigating complex criminal proceedings.

Before joining Michael & Associates in September 2025, Ms. Martin served as a Felony Trial Attorney Supervisor with the Dallas County Public Defender's Office. In that leadership role, she managed a high-volume felony caseload while mentoring and supervising other attorneys handling serious criminal matters. Her experience includes defending individuals accused of violent crimes, drug offenses, theft crimes, probation violations, and other complex felony allegations in Dallas County courts.

Ms. Martin's criminal law experience spans multiple perspectives within the justice system. She previously served as a prosecutor and later as Defense Counsel for the Veterans Treatment Court, where she worked closely with veterans facing criminal charges and helped eligible participants access treatment-focused alternatives designed to address underlying behavioral health and service-related challenges. These experiences provided her with a comprehensive understanding of how criminal cases are investigated, prosecuted, negotiated, and tried.
