also known as Jim Terry, Jim Terry Jr.
I became a lawyer in 1998 and began my legal career as an Assistant Attorney General in 1999 in the Habeas Corpus Division. In 2004, I left the AG's office and went into private practice. I am a founding member of Terry & Kelly, PLLC and concentrate on personal injury cases because I am sick and tired of insurance companies treating people badly and choosing profits over people.

This is the attorney you want on your side.
I was driving my little Prius to work one day and was hit by a Ford Expedition. The Ford won. My Prius was totaled. I did not initially reach out to an attorney. I was focused on just trying to get help with my neck and back pain and heal. It started to add up, and I wasn't getting better. A friend r...

Great help after our auto accident
My wife and I got the help we needed from Jim after our auto accident. We were initially pressured by the insurance company to settle for their amount, but Jim stepped in and walked us through the process. Jim was very up front about everything that was happening during the course of our claim and wa...

James Terry was Excellent!
Jim always explained everything to me before he made a move on my settlement. He was knowledgeable and honest about how long everything would take. I felt comfortable asking him questions and never felt like he was taking advantage of my situation. He is a great lawyer and I would refer him to any...

Personal Injury Case
I learned about the Ross Law Group through Google. I was in an auto pedestrian accident while walking downtown Austin. Luckily, I found the best personal injury attorneys in town. The Ross Law Group is experienced, knowledgeable, responsive and they fought hard for my case and never gave up. ...
Thanks Diana! You were a pleasure to work with. I no longer work at Ross Law Group. I've started my own firm -- Terry, Simon & Kelly, PLLC.

Beware!
After being suddenly terminated from my employer ( a non-profit school) while 8 months pregnant, I met with Jim Terry. After our meeting, he agreed to represent me in a lawsuit against my former employer. 7 months later , and right before the 90 day limit on filing a lawsuit was due, he informed me...
Brynn: While attorney-client confidentiality prohibits me from addressing your specific case or the specific allegations you made in this forum, in general, our firm’s standard attorney-client agreement in employment related matters is to represent a client through the EEOC process. That attorney-client agreement terminates when the EEOC issues a right to sue letter – a letter typically issued when the EEOC’s investigation fails to find evidence of unlawful conduct on the part of the employer. Our standard agreement specifically states that it is “not an agreement to file a lawsuit against the employer or for the attorneys of the law firm . . . to represent you in the litigation of your claims.” After the EEOC issues the right to sue letter – a process that can and usually does take approximately 6 months (or more), we discuss with the client the pros and cons of proceeding further given the facts, available evidence, and information obtained through the EEOC’s investigation. Because we pursue these cases on a contingent fee basis – meaning we are not paid for our time or expenses unless we recover compensation for the client – that discussion necessarily requires us to evaluate the likelihood of prevailing given the facts, circumstances and law applicable to the case. The expense of merely filing and serving a federal lawsuit is about $500. Our evaluation is especially important in situations where a client could be ordered to pay the defendant’s attorney’s fees and expenses should the case be dismissed due to a lack of evidence to substantiate the claims – fees and expenses that could be thousands of dollars. Our evaluation also requires us to determine the likelihood that a defendant/employer would even be able to pay a judgment should we succeed at trial. After taking into account all of these and other considerations, we make a determination whether to continue to represent a client on a contingent fee basis or withdraw from representation to allow the client to seek another lawyer to pursue their claims. Another lawyer may evaluate these factors differently, and we encourage clients to consult with other lawyers should they wish to pursue their claims further. We strive to make every client happy, but we are not able to file a lawsuit in every case. I am sorry that we were unable to pursue your case further and were forced to withdraw, but I hope that you were able to get the resolution to your case that you were seeking. I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors.
"Jim is an excellent attorney and strong advocate for his clients. I have worked on two employment matters with Jim, and he was always professional, courteous, and fully committed to his clients. Jim is a great example of a lawyer who is assertive for his clients, but always professional and ethical. I would definitely recommend Jim Terry."
"I wholeheartedly endorse this lawyer. Initially, I knew Jim as opposing counsel on a case involving an insurance dispute. Throughout the course of that litigation, Jim was tough, fair and respectful and did a wonderful job representing his client. I was particularly impressed with Jim's ability to argue and discuss extremely complex legal concepts in very basic and understandable terms - a great asset for any lawyer who litigates cases in front of a jury. Most recently, I have gotten to know Jim even better as a co-worker. During that time, Jim has been a mentor to me in my practice and has taught me most of what I know about practicing plaintiff's personal injury law. Overall, Jim is as talented and hardworking of an attorney as you will ever find. He also combines his dedication and skill with a real passion for his cases and the clients that he represents. Any client would be fortunate to have Jim as their attorney."
