More concerned about political ambitions than assisting

I followed up when Ken after needing assistance. His pricing stated that the services would be a flat fee. When meeting with him, rather than speaking to me about my case, he frequently went off topic to speak about his campaign for District Attorney. After asking for a follow up on my case, he wo...uld persistently be rude and hostile to me. Not once was he proactive. I actually sought a second opinion for my case and realized I had made a poor choice. At the conclusion of my case, Ken said directly to my face, "I will never price these services at a flat rate again. It is just too much work with no payoff." I did not feel like he was an appropriate, empathetic counselor I was looking for.

Because you are allowed to file anonymous comments about lawyers and other service providers on this website, I have to guess which of my clients filed this complaint about me even though they did not have the consideration or the decency to talk to me about having a problem with me. I believe that this client came to me with a problem regarding getting notified by the toll road authority that they wanted thousands of dollars of dollars for a relatively few unpaid tolls. This client had ignored a lot of the warning letters from the toll road authority. I quoted this client a flat fee for his problem and then he told me he had additional vehicles that were also used on the local toll roads without paying the required tolls. I did not charge him an additional fee when he told me that his problem was larger than he originally had told me. I got in touch with the proper toll road authority and we had a real problem getting the toll road authority to get back to me and tell me what it would take to settle this outstanding balance. I always copied this client on my emails to the toll road authority. There is no good way to make someone return a phone call or respond to an email if they do not do so. This client would frequently call me or email me to find out what was going on with his case even though I was keeping him advised of the status of the case and the problem was clearly that the toll road authority was not responding to my emails. I asked this client to be patient because there is no way to make someone return a phone call or an email when they do not do so. The person who was not responding to my emails was in fact the supervisor at the toll road authority so I could not go over her head. This was an extremely frustrating experience for me, but there was nothing I could do but be patient. This client refused to be patient and wanted to contact me frequently and chastise me because my phone calls and emails were not getting returned by the toll road authority. There was no way I could have been more proactive. As far as my talking to him about politics, he should not have asked me. If someone asks me a question that is off topic, I will usually answer it. Ultimately, I was able to arrange for this man to save many thousands of dollars off of what they were originally demanding for toll road penalties and fees. It worked out well for this man. I believe I was professional the entire time I dealt with him, even though he was late for appointments both of the times he came to my office for scheduled meetings. I work hard as an attorney and I do not like it when anonymous people complain about me when not coming to me first when they have a problem with me and the professional services I provide.
