This person was not a client, so I have no way of responding to her statements. Each client's retainer is decided based upon the amount of work that is required. Some client have more complicated cases and require more hours of work. I do not do flat rate fee cases. My experienced staff usually quotes all callers my minimum retainer for contested cases and with additional information after a consult with the attorney the retainer amount may be reduced or increased based upon each individual facts. I am sorry this individual felt confused and frustrated. That is not how we attempt to handle our cases.
