Family Law Champion

I really appreciated Jessica's consultation advise in the months leading to retaining her as my legal counsel and the following months in mediation and avoiding court. I saved thousands staying out of court. Thank you Jessica, I feel protected now and have my rights as a parent in writing and legal s...tanding with the state of Texas. I highly recommend her, she was easy to work with and got straight to the point on all subject matters, any questions I asked, she would answer in a quick and professional manner that was easy to understand. If you want someone to fight for you and your family, I recommend the Worden Law Firm. Will be using again in the future for anything that comes up regarding family law.

Worst Decision of My Life!

I would like to preface my review with the fact that I understand Ms. Worden does not have an assistant and has multiple cases, a fact I knew before hiring her and was comfortable with because she assured me she would maintain frequent communication with me. That being said, hiring Jessica was possi...bly the worst decision I could have made and would have cost me my case had I not fired her and chosen to switch attorneys! My situation was pretty straightforward and in my first meeting with Jessica, she informed me that I had a strong case and that we could get everything wrapped up pretty quickly. In short, it took almost a month for her to even get all of the paperwork submitted to the court for my ex to be served, and even though I asked her to pay the process server out of my retainer, she failed to do so and I had to have my new attorney complete that task two months later. I scheduled an informal mediation with my ex and her attorney and when we showed up, Jessica had no idea what I wanted or was willing to negotiate, nor did she understand what I was comfortable with her agreeing and not agreeing to. She came into the situation completely unprepared and was an embarrassment when trying to negotiate. I would have been better off going to the mediation without her. Additionally, when we did FINALLY make it into court, Jessica hadn't even filed all the necessary paperwork for us to speak in front of the judge and she claimed that her "advisor/mentor" told her the paperwork was "unnecessary in this situation." Long story short, she made herself and me look like idiots in the eyes of the court AND INCURRED $1,000 IN ATTORNEY'S FEES from the other side because she caused my ex's attorney to have to work overtime to get ready for court all over one piece of paper! She told me afterwards that she would pay the $1,000 because it was her fault, for which I was grateful, but it didn't make up for her lack of knowledge and organization, nor the continual delay. Over the next few weeks, Jessica was almost impossible to get in touch with. I would send her emails with questions about what I should do as my child was in a very volatile environment at my ex's house and five to six days would go by without a word or email back from her. I was trying to set up another hearing and I ended up calling her incessantly just to get an answer from her about anything! I ended up having to take matters into my own hands and called EVERYONE I possibly could to try and get some help with my situation (i.e. CPS, DFPS, the AG, APD) but they all told me I had to go through my attorney. After a continued issues at my ex's and almost a week passing without any word from Jessica about what I should do, I decided to hire another attorney and it was the best decision of my life. My advice to anyone would be this: if you're debating about whether to hire a less-expensive lawyer or not, go the more expensive route and avoid Jessica Worden. While she may be helpful in extremely simple situations, if there is even a hint of complexity to your case, Jessica can't handle it. She's too busy, has no help, and is too unorganized and over-burneded with cases to devote her full attention to yours. My new attorney even had extreme difficulty getting in contact with her to transfer my file and belongings over. I still haven't received all of the materials I gave her for the case and my new attorney eventually had to reach out to my ex's attorney to even get all of the documents that had passed between them throughout the case (also embarrassing). I learned the hard way and wasted $2,200 and almost lost my case. Learn from my mistake and find a way to pay a more capable and experienced custody lawyer.

We are very sorry for your experience. With family law matters, especially with matters including CPS, cases can take unexpected turns and also begin to involve many different people with many different schedules. This is quite different from a traditional petitioner and respondent scenario. (CPS case workers, 2 different atty's, often times guardian ad-litems and or attorney ad-litems, multiple therapists, multiple CPS case workers and more all with different schedules and jobs to perform on the same case. This process can become somewhat overwhelming for clients and also,at times, very challenging for attorneys to get everyone on the same page as quickly as we all would like. Legal issues often bring about anxiety and CPS cases seem to increase that anxiety exponentially. We are sorry for your experience and would love to discuss it in more detail. Please feel free to call Jessica at 512-541-2645 so that we may be able to resolve this situation. Thank you again for your review.
