J. Gonzalez Law Firm has its roots in hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Founder, Jesse Gonzalez, witnessed unlawful behavior and wrongdoing during his childhood years as a migrant farm worker. Coming from an underprivileged background, he saw how large companies illegally took advantage of others. A lack of financial ability and a misunderstanding of their rights to hire an attorney meant many unfortunate citizens went without justice.

These experiences and a passion to do more for his community motivated Mr. Gonzalez to obtain a Master’s in Education and serve as a teacher in the La Joya I.S.D. - a large school system in the Rio Grande Valley - for seven years.

Still burning with a passion to improve his community, Jesse set out to blaze his own trail. It was at this point that he pursued a doctor of jurisprudence degree and spent time studying at the University of Innsbruck in Austria and Oxford University in England. During his second year in law school, Mr. Gonzalez was honored with the opportunity to intern under the Federal Judge Prado in San Antonio Texas. He would receive his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2000.

From his first experiences as a teacher through his present law career, Jesse Gonzalez has always been involved in providing meaningful support and service to his local community. His understanding of the needs of the underprivileged and the historically underrepresented community of the Rio Grande Valley have inspired him to always fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.
