Mauricio R. Celis is a Navy Veteran and an International Lawyer licensed to practice law in the United States and Mexico. Mr. Celis has studied law and has been admitted to practice law in both the U.S. and Mexico and has made it his goal to assist families in both countries. Mr. Celis is admitted as a licensed attorney by the Supreme Court of Texas and is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas. This allows Mr. Celis to practice in every Texas State Court. Additionally, he’s licensed in the U. S. Southern District of Texas, which allows him to practice in all Federal District Courts of the Southern District of Texas. Furthermore, he’s also registered with the Department of Professions in Mexico City, where he registered two degrees in law, one in the general practice of law and the second a Master’s of Constitutional Procedural Law. The registration of his law degrees as well as his record of no sanctions entitles Mr. Celis to practice law in all state and federal courts in Mexico. Mr. Celis is also a member in good standing of the Mexican Bar Association.
As well as being dully licensed as an attorney in both countries, Mr. Celis also holds dual citizenship from the U.S. and Mexico. Both of these things allow Mr. Celis to take on cases in both countries, and to communicate fluently with clients on both sides of the border. Mr. Celis has had the privilege to serve on active duty in the United States Navy and travel the world. While serving in the U.S. Navy Mr. Celis was deployed to the Middle East during Operation Desert Storm / Desert Shield. During his time in service, Mr. Celis received the following military awards: National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 bronze star, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Navy Battle “E” Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2 Awards), Cold War Certificate of Recognition, Navy Good Conduct Medal, and an Honorably Discharged at the end of his enlistment.
Mr. Celis has been practicing law on a limited base in Mexico since December 1999 as authorized by the Mexican constitution. He has also been fully licensed to practice law professionally in Mexico since 2013 after registering his law degrees with the Secretariat of Education, Department of Professions. In addition to practicing law in Mexico, Mr. Celis has throughout the years worked as a legal investigator in the United States until getting licensed as an attorney in Texas. Mr. Celis’ background and experience from being a member of the U.S. military to performing different jobs in various U.S. law firms, and getting licensed as a lawyer in two countries give Mr. Celis a special perspective on the practice of law.
