Biography
Attorney Joseph Barrett Deacon brings extensive trial experience across a wide range of complex litigation matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, dangerous drugs and medical devices, railroad and agricultural disputes, as well as high-stakes business litigation and mass torts. In recent years, he has taken on major agribusiness corporations, advocating for farmers and agricultural organizations harmed by unauthorized genetically modified crop traits.
Serving as lead trial counsel, Mr. Deacon successfully defended the largest U.S. rice miller and marketer of long-grain rice against hundreds of lawsuits tied to the alleged contamination of the national rice supply. In a landmark Arkansas state court case, his leadership helped secure a million jury verdict—the largest in the state’s history at the time.
