We hired Kurt Gransee to defend my daughter who was charged with DUI despite several serious flaws with the charge. First and foremost, she was not driving her vehicle as noted to authorities by the store clerk who stated she had been sitting in the parking lot for over 8 hours. Hayes county also wai...ted 22 months (pre covid) to actually charge her with this offense which greatly hampered her ability to locate witnesses that could corroborate the store clerks’ statements. Mr Gransee vigorously defended my daughter’s legal rights including the right to a speedy trial. After several hearings and the DA’s refusal to drop the charges, the judge ruled in favor of Mr. Gransee’s speedy trial motion and the charge was dropped. I have no doubt that without Mr. Gransee’s knowledge of the law, persistence, and willingness to fight the charge, my daughter would have been wrongly convicted of DUI. I remember being arrested on a Sunday. It was a somewhat traumatizing experience for me. I felt violated. I arrived home that night and my sibling Googled attorneys. She found Mr.Gransee. We chose to come see him because he was voted one of San Antonio’s best criminal defense attorneys several year...s in a row. We did plan to meet with other lawyers. The next day following the arrest, my sibling and I went to his office without an appointment. He was gracious enough to meet with us during his lunch hour. When you feel vulnerable it is hard to trust anyone. I had many pre-conceived notions about attorneys.
