do not use this guy

He rescheduled appointments at the last minute and made decisions about my case without consulting me or my spouse. I have been trying to get some of the $3500 retainer I gave him back for over a month since I fired him for botched paperwork. He misspelled names on the fill in the blank templates he ...used, even put down the wrong birthdate for the child in the case. The judge was so pissed she basically threw the whole thing out. This guy just wants your cash.

Mediocre Lawyer

Our family retained Kenneth Baker because we needed a lawyer in Bexar County who could practice law in California. He initially showed interest especially when it was time for a payment, but other than that it was impossible to contact him. He constantly gave dates and times to contact him but never ...answered or returned your calls. He was never prepared and he made promises that he never kept. I brought several topics to his attention, which I had in emails & texts to prove his statements but he continued to disregard my concerns. He also threaten to quit the case and keep the money at the last minute because he didnt appreciate our family bringing up his mediocre performance. We basically had to eat cheese in order for him to show up for court! His preparation and court presents was below average, I definitely wouldn't recommend him to any friends or family. Mr Baker is not trustworthy, responsible, and he definitely won't keep you informed. He actually started to act like we worked for him instead of the other way around. I expected more from Baker, and I was very disappointed!

REVIEW

He makes promises and does not fulfill them. He says one thing, then does another. He said I would have standard visitation with my children at the least, and at the most they would be living with me. He said we'd go to court (I already had and was awarded standard visitation but my ex appealed as sh...e has nothing better to do). But he only ever sided with my parental-alienating ex and her attorney and pressured me into settling after threatening me and belittling me. He never went in front of a judge to plead my case, or allowed me to. He constantly rescheduled court dates without contacting me to let me know (I lived 90 miles away, and several times showed up to court just to find out it had been rescheduled). He is rude. He interrupts and does not listen, and did not seem to be able to keep facts in order or even remember very important aspects about my case (like how my ex has been convicted of family violence). I never did anything wrong and yet I have had to jump through hoop after hoop after hoop and pay huge sums of money (that could have gone to support instead). I have never abused my children, but my ex has, yet here I am being punished for her behavior. Mr. Baker does not return calls. He does not answer them. I wonder if his secretary even gives Mr. Baker messages or if he is instructed not to. Once I called and another lawyer answered, said Mr. Baker was there, then came back and said he had stepped out of the office. Mr. Baker has an uncanny ability to always be out of the office whenever I call. Overall, he didn't do what he said he would do, and took my money, and I STILL do not have standard visitation with my children, while my ex, convicted of family violence, gets to raise them, and with my money too. And my children continue to suffer and be used as pawns in a wicked game of control that Mr. Baker acknowledged, yet seems to be ok to let to continue. I hired him almost a year ago, and still he won't answer or return my calls after so many promises. Thing is, I HIRED him, I don't want his promises, I want WHAT I PAID FOR.
