When the trial is over, and you or a loved one is convicted of a criminal offense, the fight doesn't have to be over! Every individual convicted in Texas is entitled to appeal their conviction to the intermediate court of appeals. This timeline is very quick, so contact me as soon as possible after the verdict. We can still fight this offense! If the time has expired or the case was unreviewable on appeal (because of a plea bargain or some other kind of waiver of the right to appeal) a post conviction writ can still be filed to allege an involuntary plea, ineffective assistance of counsel at the trial court level, inadequate scientific evidence or actual innocence.
I am a board certified specialist in Criminal Law and Criminal Appellate Law.
I have handled hundreds of appeals. I am a former Bexar County District Attorney and former Assistant United States Attorney. I am an adjunct professor at St. Mary's School of Law and I have practiced 26 years.
