Pablo Vasquez

Paul Vasquez is a San Antonio criminal defense lawyer and Senior Trial Attorney at Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys with more than two decades of criminal law experience. Since relocating to San Antonio in 2001, he has dedicated his career to criminal litigation, representing individuals facing misdemeanor and felony charges while also serving as a prosecutor in Bexar County. His extensive experience on both sides of the courtroom provides valuable insight into how criminal cases are investigated, charged, negotiated, and tried.

Mr. Vasquez began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney with the Bexar County District Attorney's Office, where he served in the trial division from 2001 to 2005. During his tenure, he prosecuted a wide range of criminal offenses, including DWI, theft, assault, murder, and capital murder cases. His work handling serious felony prosecutions provided firsthand experience evaluating evidence, preparing witnesses, conducting trials, and presenting complex cases before judges and juries.

After leaving the District Attorney's Office, Mr. Vasquez spent nearly a decade in private criminal defense practice representing individuals accused of criminal offenses throughout San Antonio and South Texas. He later returned to the Bexar County District Attorney's Office in 2014, serving an additional four years as an Assistant District Attorney and further expanding his experience in criminal litigation and trial advocacy.

Following his second tenure as a prosecutor, Mr. Vasquez returned to private criminal defense practice and later established his own law firm in San Antonio. Throughout his career, he has represented individuals facing DWI charges, assault and family violence allegations, drug offenses, theft crimes, weapons charges, probation violations, and other serious misdemeanor and felony matters.

Mr. Vasquez has built a reputation as a dedicated trial attorney willing to take difficult cases to court when necessary. After transitioning to criminal defense, he successfully obtained a not-guilty verdict in one of the largest drug prosecutions in Bexar County at the time, demonstrating his ability to challenge complex criminal allegations and advocate effectively before a jury.

Having spent more than 20 years working within the Bexar County criminal justice system, Mr. Vasquez possesses extensive familiarity with local courts, prosecutors, courtroom procedures, and trial practices.
