Phylis West Offerman

Do not attend mediation with Phylis Offerman if one party is represented by Graham Family Law. She is their preferred mediator and demonstrates clear and obvious bias. Ms. Offerman convened a mediation case that involved coercion and domestic violence -- violating the first principles of fair and... balanced mediation. As an attorney mediator -- Ms. Offerman is well aware of state statutes and rules. People have paid for multiple mediations with her only to have her very clearly side with the side that enters the conversation represented by Graham Family Law. This is a gross abuse of her position as a mediator. This is shared as a review after I myself took the 40 hour mediation course Texas requires for court-ordered mediators to learn if Ms. Offerman was truly working in alignment with state guidelines and rules. Exceptionally disappointing to see people abuse the mediation process in such a way, especially as mediators are trusted to act a neutral parties who facilitate collaborative resolution -- not whatever Ms. Offerman is pretending to do.

I found Phylis Offerman to be highly competent and knowledgeable. She successfully mediated a complication issue in my divorce to everyone's satisfaction, did not appear to waste time (which is $$$), and was very professional in every aspect of the proceedings. If you are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in helping you mediate a divorce, stay away from Phylis Offerman. First of all, she kept us waiting for an hour just to get into our scheduled appointment. Of course, we have nothing better to do with our time than to wait on her. Second..., she isn't interested in any kind of good faith mediation. She basically spent all of 20 minutes telling me what I wanted wasn't going to happen and then she added a healthy dose of antagonism. Very classy. There was no give and take or offer and compromise that you would expect from a "mediator". Finally, you are graced with the pleasure of paying her $400 for being late, antagonizing you and offering no mediation help whatsoever. If you are having a Comal County divorce and need to go through mediation, stay far away from Phylis Offerman. She is a waste of your hard earned money! I'm sure there are several other mediators who take their job seriously and act with professionalism.
