Linda Bean's back and knee were injured requiring multiple surgeries when she slipped and fell at a Bill's Dollar Store in Winnie, Texas. A soft drink had been spilled and store personnel had recently ...mopped the floor. Instead of barricading the wet floor, store personnel instructed Ms. Bean to "be careful" but to go ahead and walk through the wet area to exit the store. The case was tried to a Chambers County jury who awarded Ms. Bean $1,490,000.00 in damages and assessing her with some portion of fault for the accident. The jury assessed exemplary damages in the amount of $1,000,000.00.
