Homeowner left landlines unplugged unless using the phones due to telemarketers' calls. Jury found client NOT GUILTY.

Client was truly not guilty...his wife stood by him through trial and testified on his behalf. The two of them cried together during my closing argument to the jury. The jury felt like the officers err ... ed on the side of caution by arresting my client on the night of this marital dispute for making a threat against his wife when he found out that she had an affair, but the jury did not believe my client ever intended to carry out the threat - just angry words in the heat of the moment. Since the jury did not think the State met their burden of proof, they did the right thing and sent my client home to his wife and kids with an acquittal. The system works!

We tried a Possession of Cocaine case charged as a 2nd degree felony and enhanced where client was looking at 5 years in prison to life. Client had a previous conviction for the same offense, but had l ... earned a lesson from his previous punishment and was gainfully employed at the time of the new charge. Client was literally in the wrong place at the wrong time. State offered to substantially reduce the charge and limit client's punishment in a plea offer. Frankly, we thought the client should take the offer with so much at risk. Client was adamant that he was not guilty and wanted his trial. His courage and faithfulness paid off. The jurors returned a verdict of NOT GUILTY and client went home with his wife and son. Our system does work. Hats off to the client for the strength in character to march on in his belief of what was right, even when the stakes were so high.
