Amy L. Mitchell

Amy Mitchell, a Sugar Land resident since 1994, is a partner at Mitchell & Duff, LLC, a local female owned law firm, and has been a very active community leader in Sugar Land for many years. Our firm handles all aspects of litigation related to both businesses and individuals in disputes over torts, contracts, strict liability, consumer debt litigation, representation of financial institutions, complex litigation, family law matters, wills and trusts, probate, guardianships and insurance. We will also handle all kinds of transactional matters such as creating corporate and partnership documents and contracts.

I am AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and have been practicing law for over 26 years. I bring a broad perspective to litigation, having worked directly for insurance carriers, such as AIG, Farmers Insurance, Liberty Mutual and USAA,and for mid sized litigation firms in Houston. I have handled over 2000 litigated cases of varying complexity, including complex litigation such as class actions, multi party death cases and appeals. I have tried over 60 cases, handled 500+ mediations, and 15-20 arbitrations. I have extensive experience in all aspects of personal injury, civil and commercial litigation and defend consumer finance cases including alleged violations of TILA, the Texas Finance Code, the FDCPA, and FCRA. I have successfully argued a case to the court of appeals related to the arbitration clause in credit card contracts. I enjoy working towards a quick, reasonable and efficient resolution of cases directly with claims handlers, clients and opposing counsel.  I serve as a FINRA Arbitrator to address SEC complaints.
