Brent Allen Huffman

When I first met with Brent, he seemed very knowledgeable and tenacious. He was able to quickly get a much needed protective order in my divorce case, and I signed him on the spot. Although he was young and inexperienced, I felt that his aggressive personality would be worth it in my case. However, a...s the case progressed, I could never get him to return my phone calls. My calls and messages were always returned by his receptionist/assistant/paralegal (all the same person), who never had any of the answers to my questions. She sometimes would relay messages to me from Brent, but could not expound upon them or assist me in any way. Her response was that Brent really didn't like phone calls, and that I could schedule a meeting. This was incredibly unreasonable, because I live over 30 miles away and have a full time job! I tried to begin communicating via e-mail, but my e-mails also were received by/responded to by his assistant, who would just acknowledge that she had received it and mention that she would discuss it with Brent. Most of my questions went unanswered, and I ended up doing lots of research on the Internet to try and locate answers to my anxious questions. My home was in the process of going into foreclosure because my ex-husband was not helping me to make payments on it. When I mentioned a possible deed-in-lieu of foreclosure to Brent, he had never heard of it and told me to do as much research as I could on the topic, which I did. Several months after this meeting, no progress had been made with my ex. No hearings had been scheduled, so I called and demanded that the final divorce hearing be put on the docket. The final divorce hearing was defaulted, but a month after the hearing, I still don't have final papers in my hands. I had to call and ask for drafts of the decree, because nothing had been mentioned or sent to me. The draft that was sent to me had no mention of a permanent injunction or restraining order, although this was promised to me by Brent when we negated the protective order at my ex-husband's request. After e-mailing this to him, I still have not received a response. I hope that someday my divorce is final, and that no one else has to experience the stress of having a non-responsive attorney.
