OUTCOME: No-Bill by a Grand Jury

My client was charged with felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle. The allegation was that the officer attempted to stop him and he continued traveling on the freeway for 4-5 miles before finally ex ... iting. The officer then alleged that he refused to get out of his car and smelled of alcohol and that there was alcohol in the vehicle. We were able to convince a Grand Jury to no-bill the case based on the client's testimony that he did not know the officer was trying to pull him over and he stopped at the first exit he could. We will soon file to have the case expunged from his record.

OUTCOME: No Billed (Dismissed) by the Grand Jury

C.N. was charged with sexual assault of a woman who he went out on one date with. So, it was basically her word against his. But, the complication came in to play when another girl came forward durin ... g the investigation and said the same thing happend to her, describing many of the same details as the first assault. Charges were only filed on one victim and due to discrepancies in the investigation I was able to put forth, the Grand Jury decided to No Bill the case.

Step-father was charged with injury to a child (his step-son, age 11 the victim). It was a situation where the Step-father, my client, disciplined the step-son in a way that caused him an inury the st ... ep-father did not intent. The case never should have been filed to begin with, but since it was, it was really great that the Grand Jury did the right thing and No Billed it. Many times people end up going to trial and paying a trial fee on a case that never should have been filed, but in this instance, we were able to stop the case from proceeding past Grand Jury.

The state in this case alleged that D.H. had committed forgery by creating, signing and cashing two large payroll checks (equally and felony amount) from the employer she worked for at that time. OUTCOME: Not Guilty by a Jury after Trial

This young woman was charged with assaulting her child's father's new girlfriend after she went to their apartment to pick up her daughter. The victim in the case had a miscarriage a couple of days la ... ter and when the argument occurred, Defendant did not know she was pregnant. The state took the case to Grand Jury and tried to indict the case as a felony, but thankfully they sided with the evidence we presented. At trial, despite my objections, the miscarriage was let into evidence. The State called an Expert Witness, the victim's Doctor, to testify that the miscarriage resulted from the assault 2 days prior. Really? We had no expert witness, so just went with cross. The Doctor kept saying the proof is in the pudding, which I thought was a horrible thing to say. Defendant and her 12 year-old daughter testified and did a great job. After what I thought was a great argument, the jury found her not guilty of anything and she moved out of state with her daughter.

OUTCOME: Case No Billed (Dismissed) by the Grand Jury

Father, my client, was charged with 2 counts of sexually assaulting his daughter, age 6. Thes charges arose during the divorce of he and his wife and when there was a custody battle pending. Based on ... various factors, including the holes in the investigation, the time line not matching up, and the girl's story not making sense because the mom had told her what to say -- the Grand Jury decided there was not probable cause for the case to proceed to trial and No Billed the case. Client had his record expunged and was able to move past this horrible ordeal.
