If you are struggling to decide on whether or not you should hire representation, here is my analogy. If you are having issues with your car, are you going to fix it yourself, or are you going to hire a mechanic to fix it? If you know how to fix the problem, you don't need a mechanic. However, if you don't know how to fix the problem, you would hire a mechanic to fix it. If you know the law, then you don't need an attorney. But if you don't know all the laws, then I would highly recommend you hire an attorney. (Note: just because you have had friends/family go through a divorce, doesn't mean they know all the laws.
