It's been my experience that most people are intimidated by lawyers and legal things like wills, contracts, and real estate transactions. My goal is to make the law accessible to everyone. I want the documents that I write to be understandable by non-lawyers. I was trained that "less is more" and I hold to the philosophy that a longer, more "legal-ese" sounding document is NOT a better document. In fact, I think that it takes more effort and skill to write a brief, understandable document that is not intimidating than a long, wordy one filled with terms people don't understand.

In my early days as a lawyer, I practiced general civil litigation. Once my daughter was born, I stopped litigating, but kept up with things like estate planning (wills, powers of attorney, etc.), probate and my personal favorite "writing mean letters for friends."
