I am on L1 currently and applied for H1 COS and it is currently pending. I am going to my home country October month-end on L1

If you travel to your home country while the COS is pending, USCIS will deny the COS part of the H1B petition.

As long as your visa is valid and is employed by the L1b employer, you should be able to renter the U.S.
