Ananya Kumar

My legal career reflects a combination of international legal education, U.S. legal training, and hands-on experience representing clients in a wide variety of matters. I earned my B.A. LL.B. from the University of Delhi and an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from Jindal Global Law School, graduating with First Division honors. I later earned an LL.M. in American General Law from Texas A&M University School of Law, where I was honored with a Graduate Competitive Scholarship. I am also pursuing a Ph.D. in Leadership at the University of the Cumberlands.

My practice is primarily focused on family law, and I have had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of cases, including contested and uncontested divorces, complex property disputes, child custody and conservatorship matters, SAPCRs, child support, modifications, enforcements, protective orders, paternity matters, non-parent custody cases, and cases involving allegations of family violence. My work includes discovery, temporary restraining orders and temporary orders, mediation, settlement negotiations, prove-ups, and contested hearings.

My international background also provides an important perspective when representing immigrants and families with connections outside the United States. These clients may face concerns that extend beyond the immediate family-law dispute, including cultural differences, family relationships across borders, immigration-related concerns, international assets, and uncertainty about the American legal system. I understand many of the practical and cultural challenges that can accompany building a life in a new country and strive to make the legal process understandable and accessible to clients from diverse backgrounds.

I am fluent in Hindi and also speak Urdu and Punjabi, allowing me to communicate with many South Asian clients in the language in which they are most comfortable. My goal is to combine careful legal analysis, practical problem-solving, and strong advocacy while recognizing that every client's circumstances, family, and objectives are different.
