May 14, 2012OUTCOME: After 3 day trial, jury rendered a verdict finding Plaintiff negligent and Defendant not.
Plaintiff walked through sliding glass door on patio of condo owned by Defendant. Suffered serious injuries - severed tendons in knee and "almost" severed hand from arm. Alleged sliding glass door lack ... ed the requisite warnings & was made of improper material. Many unique jurisdictional issues - suit filed in US District Court - Southern Dist. TX - since incident occurred in Mexico & Def. was a Minnesota resident. Case preceeded to trial in Galveston. Based on location of incident, arguments were also presenting regarding application of Mexican law. Def sucessfully argued a Mexican national witness should be permitted to testify at trial from Mexico via Skype.
