Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"I endorse this lawyer's work. Marty and I recently wound up a multi-million dollar international trade dispute -- one with action in Houston, Montreal, Calgary, Marseille, even Romania -- in which we represented opposing sides. As an advocate, he was zealous and very effective in contested court hearings. But he also entered the case with a reputation for frankness and sound judgment that, indeed, I quickly confirmed during our settlement negotiations. Many a lawyer in his shoes would have been slow to beat the swords into plowshares, because there's no question that a lawyer in his position could have milked the case for serious fees. Without ever compromising on the effectiveness of his advocacy, he showed himself to be open to creative solutions -- to the direct benefit of both his clients and mine. I'd welcome any future opportunity to work either with or against him."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
