Judge Akers stepped into a very dysfunctional contested probate between three siblings. A fourth sibling had died more than two years earlier and one of the remaining siblings had seized control of the proceedings and done nothing for two years except obstruct the proceedings. The lenders and home ...owners association related to the deceased sisters house began sending demand letters and threatening to sue each of the heirs for the indebtedness of the deceased sister. Judge Akers was retained and she very professionally took charge and wound up the affairs of the estate and thereafter distributed the remaining net assets to the heirs of the estate. Throughout the engagement she was professional, intelligent, compassionate and empathetic. She was never thrown off course by the dysfunction of the heirs.
