He Treated Me Like a Person, Not a Dollar Sign

Before I found Craig Hemphill, I had contacted more than 100 law firms trying to find someone willing to listen to a complicated employment, retaliation, and discrimination matter. Most declined, referred me elsewhere, or made a decision before fully understanding the evidence. Of those, only three s...howed serious interest at the outset. Craig was different from the first conversation. He actually listened. He allowed me to explain the history, the documents, and why the matter was more complicated than it appeared from a brief intake summary. He did not rush me, dismiss me, or treat me like an inconvenience. At a time when almost no one would take the situation seriously, he gave it thoughtful attention and treated me with dignity. I also had very limited financial resources. I was honest that I could not afford what many firms would normally require. Craig did not use that vulnerability against me. He worked with me, made the arrangement manageable, and gave me a genuine opportunity to obtain legal guidance. I never felt like a billable file or a dollar sign. I felt like a person whose situation mattered. Although my case was outside the type of work for which he may be best known, he took the time to understand it. His experience was obvious in the way he analyzed the record, identified what was important, asked direct questions, and explained legal and procedural issues in practical terms. He reviewed substantial materials, helped me think through strategy, pointed out weaknesses as well as strengths, and did not make empty promises. He was candid when something could create a problem, but encouraging when the evidence supported moving forward. His communication set a very high standard. He responded to updates, reviewed drafts and documents, followed developments, and made himself available to discuss next steps. He did not provide general advice and disappear. He stayed engaged as new records and evidence came in, and helped me understand how different proceedings could affect one another. Over time, additional evidence strengthened parts of the matter. After a long delay, outside funding for legal assistance became available, and other attorneys and organizations became more interested. Some were people or offices I had tried to reach much earlier. That made me appreciate Craig even more. He was willing to listen and help before the case was fully developed, before funding was available, and before others decided it was worth their attention. He did not wait until the situation became easier or more attractive. When I later interacted with other attorneys, I realized how exceptional Craig’s client service had been. The contrast was noticeable in communication, responsiveness, preparation, patience, and willingness to explain what was happening. Craig had already shown me what professional and humane representation could look like, so I recognized when that same level of care was missing elsewhere. What I value most is that he combined legal experience with humanity. He was professional without being cold, direct without being disrespectful, and realistic without making me feel hopeless. He helped me navigate an unfamiliar process without pressuring me, taking advantage of me, or making me feel ashamed that I had limited resources. He understood that a legal matter affects more than paperwork. It affects a person’s work, future, finances, and peace of mind. I feel blessed and genuinely fortunate that Craig was my first attorney. He set the bar high for what client service, communication, and professional integrity should look like. I am grateful that my first experience with a lawyer was with someone who treated me fairly and did not take advantage of my circumstances. I recommend Craig K. Hemphill without hesitation. He is knowledgeable, thorough, communicative, experienced, and compassionate. More importantly, he listens. When many others would not, he did—and that made all the difference.

Dependability that counts!

Craig is a pleasure to work with, very knowledgeable and is always available when I call him! He takes the time to EXPLAIN things and that makes a huge difference to me. His patience speaks volumes! He is dependable and puts his clients needs first in addition to doing his own research to make our... firm a growing organization and ensuring compliance throught the company.
