Carson F. Joachim is a Houston criminal defense lawyer and Senior Trial Attorney at Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys. With more than two decades of courtroom and litigation experience, including service as a Harris County prosecutor and Chief Prosecutor of the misdemeanor division, Mr. Joachim brings a unique combination of prosecutorial, trial, and legal advisory experience to individuals facing criminal charges throughout Texas.
Mr. Joachim earned his Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law in 2002 and began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney with the Harris County District Attorney's Office. During his tenure, he prosecuted both misdemeanor and felony criminal cases and ultimately served as Chief Prosecutor of the misdemeanor division. This experience provided firsthand insight into criminal investigations, charging decisions, plea negotiations, trial strategy, and courtroom advocacy within one of the nation's largest criminal justice systems.
Following his service with the District Attorney's Office, Mr. Joachim spent more than two decades litigating complex matters in Texas courts while continuing to build substantial courtroom and trial experience. His practice has included criminal defense representation as well as employment, administrative, and civil litigation, providing him with extensive familiarity with evidentiary issues, witness examination, motion practice, and case strategy across a broad range of contested legal proceedings.
In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Joachim has represented law enforcement professionals and labor organizations, including service as General Counsel to the Harris County Deputies' Organization. In that role, he advised organizational leadership, handled labor and employment arbitrations, represented clients in administrative proceedings, reviewed policies, and provided guidance on governance and legal matters. This experience offers valuable perspective regarding law enforcement procedures, internal investigations, administrative processes, and the practical realities of the criminal justice system.
At Michael & Associates, Mr. Joachim focuses exclusively on criminal defense, representing clients facing DWI charges, drug offenses, assault allegations, domestic violence accusations, theft crimes, weapons charges, probation violations, and other misdemeanor and felony criminal matters. Drawing on his experience as a prosecutor, trial attorney, and legal advisor, he carefully evaluates the evidence, identifies strategic opportunities, and develops defense strategies tailored to the unique facts and circumstances of each case.
Known for his practical approach, strong advocacy skills, and commitment to client service, Mr. Joachim believes effective representation begins with preparation, communication, and a thorough understanding of the facts. He works closely with clients to help them understand the legal process, evaluate their options, and make informed decisions while protecting their rights, reputation, and future.
Outside the courtroom, Mr. Joachim remains active in the Houston community through his longstanding service as a Director with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He enjoys physical fitness, tennis, travel, reading, and spending time with his wife, Maegan, and their family.
About Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys
Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys is a criminal defense firm with a unique model: the high-touch, personalized attention of a boutique firm, backed by the resources and collective experience of a 40+ lawyer defense team.
Every client is assigned a dedicated Senior Trial Attorney who owns the defense from intake through resolution. That attorney focuses on a specific county and court — practicing there regularly and knowing the judges, the prosecutors, and the local tendencies that shape outcomes. Cases are not rotated, reassigned, or passed to junior attorneys (the firm doesn't employ any).
Behind that lead attorney is a team of forty criminal-defense lawyers with more than 1,000 jury trials between them, including attorneys Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, ten Super Lawyers honorees, ACS-CHAL Forensic DWI Lawyer-Scientists, former prosecutors, former judges, and former law-enforcement professionals, including a former FBI agent.
That structure gives clients the 40-on-1 advantage: one senior lawyer leading your case, backed by the collective knowledge of 40+ criminal-defense attorneys. It means the prosecutor is not up against one lawyer — they're up against a brain trust.
