Rhett Wayne Bartlett

Rhett Bartlett is a Texas trial lawyer and the founder of Bartlett Law, a criminal defense and civil litigation firm with offices in Houston and Canadian, Texas. He represents clients across Harris County, the Texas Panhandle, and throughout the state.

Before founding the firm, Rhett served in the criminal appeals division of the Texas Attorney General's Office and prosecuted cases for a District Attorney's Office — experience on the other side of the docket that now informs how he defends his clients. During law school, he was one of two law clerks selected to serve the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.

Bartlett Law is deliberately different from high-volume practices: the firm accepts a limited number of matters, and every case is handled personally by Rhett from the first consultation through trial. There is no handoff to an associate or case manager. Clients work directly with their lawyer.

The firm defends clients facing charges from DWI to felonies and federal cases, and represents plaintiffs in personal injury, trucking and vehicle accidents, wrongful death, wildfire litigation, and other high-stakes civil matters. Recent matters include defeating a $21 million lawsuit against a Grammy-winning entertainer, resolving a federal suit against Meta, and settling all claims against Xcel Energy arising from the Smokehouse Creek Fire — the largest wildfire in Texas history.

Rhett earned his B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, his J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law, and a Master of Public Health from Yale University. He lives in Houston with his wife, Courtney, a physician at Texas Children's Hospital.
