David was born and raised in South Louisiana and moved to Houston as a teenager. His Cajun roots combined with his outgoing personality enable him to forge lasting relationships with his clients. Commercial Litigation
David has represented an array of businesses and individuals (Plaintiffs and Defendants) in a variety of commercial disputes. These disputes have ranged from simple breach of contract and collection cases to complex commercial transactions involving breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder disputes, officer and director liability, trade secrets, and insurance coverage claims.
FINRA
David has represented both brokers and investors in FINRA arbitrations. David’s understanding of the FINRA arbitration process enables him to develop each case efficiently, and proceed to an arbitration hearing when necessary. Helping investors recover losses is an important part of David’s practice.
Real Estate
David represents individuals and businesses in an array of real estate issues. He has represented buyers and sellers in purchase agreements, negotiations, financing issues, and the closing of multi-family real estate developments. David has also represented a residential high-rise owner in multiple contract disputes with potential purchasers. David has handled a number of landlord-tenant disputes, as well as new construction contract disputes. David also has experience negotiating commercial leases for an array of clients, including a new warehouse lease for an industrial coatings company, a lease for a large technology company, and several medical professional clinic and office space leases.
BACKGROUND
David graduated from Texas State University, cum laude, in 2007. After moving back to Houston and before beginning law school in the fall of 2008, David worked full-time in the real estate industry. He continued to focus on real estate while in law school, studying real estate transactions and real estate finance.
David began working at the firm as a third-year law student while attending South Texas College of Law. After graduating law school in May 2011, David joined the firm full time.
During law school, David was active in the advocacy program. He served as an Officer on the South Texas College of Law Board of Advocates, where he was responsible for organizing and running the intramural moot court and mock trial competitions. He was also selected as an oralist on a varsity advocacy team. David received a Best Brief Award in the Leroy Jeffers Intramural Moot Court Competition.
David’s wife Amy is also a lawyer. Together, they enjoy traveling, cooking, playing tennis, running, spending time at the lake, and trying new restaurants. David is also an avid sports enthusiast, both as a spectator and participant.
