Immigration Lawyer Dionne Roberts-Emegha is the founding Managing Member of The Roberts Emegha Law Firm and a member of the State Bar of Texas.
Dionne earned a B.A. Degree in English from Texas Southern University in 1994 before earning her Juris Doctor Degree from South Texas College of Law in 1999.
Prior to founding The Roberts Emegha Law Firm, Dionne worked as a Chief of Staff for Houston City Council Member M. J. Khan and oversaw his chairmanship of the city's International Affairs and Protocol Committee. Dionne also served as a Regional Partnership Specialist for the Department of Commerce, working with families and communities that represent countries from all over the world, which is why she firmly believes that everyone counts!
Dionne's respect for every human being was evident when she served as the Executive Director of a non-profit organization committed to providing health and immigration services to those who could not afford it. In addition, Dionne has consistently advocated for changes in public policy that reflect our Nation's richest traditions of the rule of law, fairness and family.
It was in her capacity as an Executive Director that Dionne was introduced to her husband, Gabriel. Both Dionne and Gabriel worked on a project in Delta State, Nigeria to foster HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness. They also traveled to South Africa to participate in HIV/AIDS outreach in downtown Johannesburg in 2008. They soon fell in love, became engaged, and like many, began the process of navigating U.S. immigration law.
Fairness and expeditious processing is what Dionne expected from the United States government when she and her husband went through the immigration process themselves. Their visa journey, like most families seeking to reunite with loved-ones, was expensive, time consuming, and at times filled with apprehension and anxiety. Dionne's understanding of the emotional toll of the immigration process is what led her to focus on family immigration law. She handles both non-immigrant and immigrant family visa cases, waiver cases for those determined "inadmissible" and deferred action for undocumented childhood arrivals. In addition, because many can't afford attorneys fees associated with immigration petitions, Dionne decided to offer a "Petition Review Service" for those who file their own petitions and need a professional review before submission to USCIS; and, a "Consulate Interview Service" to help prepare petitioners for their upcoming interviews at the Embassies abroad.
It was only when Dionne's husband received his permanent residency that she could breath a sigh of relief because she knew they would not have to be separated again. The day Dionne's husband received his U.S. Citizenship was one of the most joyous and proud days of her life. Through their personal journey, Dionne came to understand the enormous sacrifice involved in obtaining citizenship and the privileges American citizenship bestows. She brings that profound understanding and appreciation for the process to work with her every day as she works to reunites U.S. petitioners with their foreign loved-ones.

"I have know Dionne for the past 20 years. We attended law school together and now practice in the same field. She has continued to develop a brilliant legal mind, that was apparent even as a law student. She has been actively engaged in her community, even having run for public office in the past. Dionne is an excellent advocate for her clients and community."
