Do Not Recommend

In my opinion, Mr. Douglas was slow, uncommunicative, and did not follow through on the work I hired him to perform. I retained him on May 27 to handle an eviction and explained the facts of my case at that time and hired him to serve a notice to vacate , file an eviction suit , and appear in cour...t . Over the next month, I repeatedly had to follow up to move the matter forward. On June 8, I specifically instructed him to proceed without waiting for additional approval from me. On June 18, after discussing the same facts again, he told me he would get the eviction filed. It was never filed. After I requested a partial refund for the filing and court representation that were never performed, his position became that the case was frivolous or moot. To my knowledge, the facts I had provided when I retained him on May 27 had not changed, so if he thought it was frivolous, he never should have taken it on in my opinion . On June 29, I requested only a partial refund, acknowledging that the Notice to Vacate had been completed. I gave him until July 1 to resolve the matter before posting this review on July 2. My refund request was denied. This review reflects my personal experience.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
