David Isaak represents companies and individuals in their most serious legal matters: white-collar criminal defense; government investigations (including parallel civil, criminal, and administrative proceedings); and high-stakes civil litigation. He represents clients in investigations, trials, and appeals involving insider trading, tax fraud, securities fraud, commodities manipulation, trademark infringement, theft of trade secrets, environmental crimes, and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Respected for his expertise in legal analysis and argument, Mr. Isaak is also often called upon to brief and argue legal issues in trial and appellate courts.
Often Mr. Isaak’s victories are private, for example, when a prosecutor or agency declines to bring criminal charges or a civil enforcement claim. But he has also had many public successes for clients. Recently, Mr. Isaak was a key member of the team that obtained the dismissal of all felony charges and secured an acquittal on the remaining misdeameanor charge against BP’s well site leader on the Deepwater Horizon.
Mr. Isaak earned his undergraduate degree at The University of North Dakota, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1994. He then obtained his first graduate degree, a Master of Arts in English with honors from the University of Illinois in 1996. He graduated from the University of Texas Law School with highest honorsin 1999, earning scholastic recognition as Grand Chancellor, Order of the Coif, and Articles Editor for Texas Law Review. After graduation, he clerked for the Honorable Thomas R. Phillips, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas.
