Derek H. Davis

Derek H. Davis, Attorney at Law, P.C. is a business, estate planning, tax, real estate, and family law firm based in Waco, Texas. Derek H. Davis has over 40 years of experience representing Texas, national, and international clients and is experienced in a wide range of legal matters. In addition to being formerly Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Dr. Davis previously served as a professor and chair at Baylor University and as a professor and graduate dean at University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He has published eighteen books and more than 150 articles on constitutional law, religious liberty, church-state relations, legal matters affecting colleges and universities, and many other legal topics.

Dr. Davis is a fellow, director and officer of the International Academy for Freedom of Religion and Belief, serves on the advisory council of the Interfaith Religious Liberty Foundation, is a member of the Religious Liberty Council of the National Council of Churches U.S.A., is a member of the Board of Experts for the International Religious Liberty Association, serves as a director of the Center for Liberty of Consicence, is listed in Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in the World, and has served as Special Counsel to the Baptist Joint Committee on Public Affairs.  He has been called upon by the U.S. Congress, the Texas legislature, and United Nations emissaries for testimony relating to legal measures needed to protect religious liberty in national and international settings.  In 2000, he was awarded the Human Rights Achievement Award by Freedom magazine; in 2004, the Honor of Merit by the International Religious Liberty Association for leadership in advancing religious freedom; and in 2010 the Abner V. McCall Award for Religious Liberty by the Baylor University Alumni Association.  In 2007 he was named Theologian-in–Residence by Kansas University.  He is also a former Baylor University football captain and all-conference receiver.
