Barrett Thomas is the founding partner of Blanchard & Thomas, LLP (B&T) a law firm that now has offices in Dallas, Waco, Temple, & Marlin. B&T is one of only a few firms in the Central Texas market that concentrates primarily on family law. Mr. Thomas handles divorces, adoptions, modifications, child custody issues, child support issues, and more. B&T also serves clients in the areas of wills, probate, and wealth management; personal injury; criminal/juvenile law; and immigration.

Mr. Thomas grew up in Waco, Texas, and graduated from Waco High School. He then attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, earning a Bachelor's of Behavioral Science in communications and business administration.

Mr. Thomas initially began a career in law enforcement. While working as a correctional officer, and later a police officer, Mr. Thomas earned a Master's Degree in criminal justice from Tarleton State University and a Master's Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Eventually, Mr. Thomas decided to pursue his interest in law and earned a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law. Since completing law school, Mr. Thomas has worked as a Chief of Police and felony prosecutor. He now uses the investigative and trial skills he learned in that time to manage a private practice.

Expert advice and great service!

Mr. Thomas is a very credible attorney. He talks to you and lays out a best plan for your case. He and his team are great with communication and ensuring you are respected and attended to throughout your the case. I would highly recommend this attorney! I’ve unfortunately have had a few attorneys in the past and none have compared to Mr. Thomas’s intelligence and experience.

You couldn’t find a more compassionate attorney

Barrett’s intuitiveness, compassion and integrity truly set him apart. My son, who’s still in college, needed representation for a custody issue. It was obviously complicated, and he needed help navigating this difficult process. Barrett came highly recommended by another family law attorney, so I already knew he was skilled. But it was his moral character that impressed me the most. After discussing the details with Barrett, it was decided that the timing wasn’t right for my son to pursue this issue. I am certain that the outcome would’ve been favorable had Barrett decided to take the case. I believe he felt equally confident, but he chose to put his client’s best interest above his own. Beyond any client experience I could’ve asked for to represent me through my Child Custody Case!

This is quite literally only my 2nd review ever completed in my entire 40 years and it is honestly the MOST meaningful and beyond deserved review that I could’ve imagined writing. I contacted Blanchard & Thomas’ Law Office in an absolute panic having the absolute slightest clue what to say or where to begin… The one and only thing that I did know at the time was that I needed one hell-of-a Family Law Attorney to assist me with my very unexpected child custody case and I needed them in a hurry. At the completion of my initial 1-hr consultation, I felt like I could finally breath again, literally. It was the first time in months that I felt the weight lift off of my shoulders in a way that I can’t even begin to explain. I was able to hang up the phone with a clear understanding of the process in which I was about to endure and complete and total trust that I was in the best hands imaginable. Barrett’s team wasted absolutely no time getting started on my case. With us already being behind the eight ball and a quickly impeding TRO filed against me (total load of crap) they were beyond motivated to make sure I was more than prepared and ready to take on this battle and it wouldn’t be alone. Mr. Barrett Thomas, his Paralegal Team as well as the Front Office Staff were beyond compassionate and understanding, knowledgeable and professional, forthcoming, patient and available anytime I needed them day or night. Very knowledgeable and helpful!

I didn’t know where to turn when my father-in-law was injured in a motor vehicle crash by an unlicensed driver. Barrett’s firm was contacted and my family received the attention they deserved and a settlement was reached with the insurance that compensated him to cover the loss of his vehicle, medical expenses and more.
