Amir Golestan was the CEO of tech company Micfo, a business that provided services, such as server space or web hosting, to other web based platforms, such as VPN providers. In a first-of-its-kind pros ... ecution, Golestan and Micfo were convicted of wire fraud for making false statements to the American Registry of Internet Numbers (ARIN) in order to obtain IPv4 address resources. Golestan and Micfo then sold these resources for millions of dollars in profit on the open market. The innovative nature of the case, and the complex concepts underlying the fraud, case were featured in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and several Charleston, SC news sources.
