My brother was arrested for a crime that he did not commit based upon his prior criminal history and guilt by association. The police allowed the actual culprits drive away, while they detained my brother and put him in jail. He retained the services of an attorney (not Lesa initially) to represent... him and help prove his innocence, but after 6 months (and more than a dozen attempts on my part to connect with him regarding my brother's case, evidence, his defense strategy)...I concluded that he'd made no effort to do so. He was too busy and encouraging us to take the "path of least resistance". In fact, he encouraged my brother (and my family) to take anything less than a 5-year sentence offered by the DA. After 6 months on probation, calling in daily, reporting for random UAs on a weekly basis and spending 2+ months sitting in jail (for a crime he did not commit)... While monitored during this time, she was able to help get his restrictions reduced (to an 8 p.m. curfew). Within 2 weeks of bonding him out, she was able to take all of the evidence and the results of his polygraph to the DA and ultimately had the entire case against him thrown out.
