James Edward Key

James Key is a civil trial attorney. His litigation practice is focused primarily on complex commercial and business matters, oil and gas, real estate, and insurance coverage disputes. James’ commercial and business litigation practice involves representing real estate developers, financial institutions, and shareholders and partners in closely held entities such as limited partnerships, limited liability companies, and close-corporations. His oil and gas litigation practice includes representing clients in lease maintenance disputes, lease termination disputes, surface disputes over operations and environmental matters, royalty disputes, conveyancing and title disputes, and disputes involving joint operations and co-tenancy issues. 

James is recognized annually by his peers as one of the top lawyers in Tarrant County. He has an active trial practice. James has secured significant settlements and judgments for plaintiffs and has successfully defended numerous cases with substantial, multi-million dollar claims. He has represented clients in matters throughout Texas, California, North Dakota, and Arkansas, as well as oil and gas clients with operations in the Gulf of Mexico. James is admitted to practice before all Texas trial and appellate courts and the United States District Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. James has pro hac vice admissions in California and Arkansas.
