Don't worry. You should appear and tell them you need time to hire an attorney and get the case reset for a short period of time.

Unless there is a stepparent willing to adopt the child, judges don't usually accept a relinquishment of parental rights.

You really need to talk to a family lawyer. A judge may not accept the relinquishment unless there is an adoption by a stepparent. Also Tarrant...
