A very young client of mine was charged with Felonious Assault, Domestic Violence, and Malicious Destruction of Property. Despite the fact that he was only eight years old, the county prosecutor and c ... ounty probation officer would not dismiss the charges after I was assigned to represent him. After numerous hearings and conferences, I convinced the judge to order competency and criminal responsibility evaluations. Six months after the case was filed, the psychologist agreed that he was, in fact, incompetent to stand trial and was not criminally responsible for his actions (his mom could not control a temper tantrum and instead called the police, which lead to the charges). The case was finally dismissed.
