John L. Hickman

I am a criminal defense and record-clearing attorney serving Paris, Texas and the surrounding communities of Lamar, Red River, and Fannin Counties. My practice focuses on helping individuals navigate the criminal justice system, clear their records when possible, and regain stability through solutions such as expunctions, nondisclosures, occupational driver’s licenses, and early termination of probation.

I graduated from Texas A&M University School of Law, where I earned Dean’s List honors and participated in the Patent Clinic and an internship with the Fifth Court of Appeals in Dallas. I am licensed with the State Bar of Texas and admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

My approach to legal representation is built on transparency and communication. I believe clients deserve to understand the law as it applies to their situation, the options available to them, and the possible outcomes. I focus on providing clear guidance so clients can make informed decisions during a stressful time.

Before opening my practice, I handled a wide range of criminal cases, including misdemeanors, felonies, probation matters, and court-appointed representation. I continue to represent hundreds of clients across Northeast Texas and remain committed to providing accessible and dependable legal services to the communities I serve.

I offer flat-fee pricing for many matters, including criminal defense resolutions, occupational licenses, expunctions, nondisclosures, and probation-related hearings. My goal is to give clients clarity on cost and confidence in the process from the beginning of the case to the end.
