not a good idea to travel now. you must wait and see if your green card application is approved before making any travel plans.

AP is for re-entering the U.S. not leaving so you can go and request it be sent to you in order to re-enter.

for 693 you get an RFE, but for 864 your packet will be rejected since it is not complete.

if SEVIS is updated and your status is changed, the DMV should check with DHS, and usually be able to verify your H status for licensing purposes...
