Rachel is extremely intelligent and hard working. She is also a very strong writer who is respected by the Courts. Her years of experience handling complex legal matters and her ability to think outside of the box helped me succeed in all of the legal matters that I've worked with her on over the yea...rs. DEFINITELY NOT FOR FAMILY LAW. My experience with Rachel was HORRID. She barely responded to me. Within a week of paying her the retainer fee - She went on vacation - The father of my son didn't bring my son home when he was supposed to & when I called her office - HER PARALEGAL wouldn't talk to me! ...From Feb - Sept I sat with Temporary Orders when benefited my son & I ZILCH. I needed the summer visitation changed b/c my child is younger than the age of 3 & it took me threatening to fire her with in a week of the last week of June for her to MIRACULOUSLY get it done w/in TWO HOURS of that day! I asked her for mediation b/c my ex wouldn't cooperate from April to July & do you know what one of her last emails to me was? 'Megan, I think we may mediation.' I can not express the amount of agony & STRESS this lawyer caused me. I NEVER FELT SECURE. I NEVER FELT HEARD. I NEVER FELT ASSURED. I NEVER FELT IMPORTANT. The things she 'claimed' to know about family court, I found thru my current attorney, were completely fabricated, it was almost like she was afraid to go to court & face an opposing attorney. Fortunately, I found another attorney who accomplished in (seriously) LESS THAN 2 MONTHS what Rachel NEVER did in 8 months. Divorce is HORRIFIC - so it is important that the attorney you have is not only empathetic to your situation but also has a deep understanding of the area of practice. The attorney/client relationship to be formed plays an important role. Maybe she just doesn't enjoy that area of practice - but she needs to be upfront in saying that instead of looking at people as if they're paychecks. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND RACHEL VARUGHESE.
