Tristin Harper joins McCathern’s Family Law section after serving 6 years as an Assistant Attorney General in the Texas Attorney General’s Child Support Division. Tristin has litigated thousands of bench trials in Dallas, Collin, Denton, Cooke, and Rockwall Counties over the last 6 years. She is uniquely familiar with the nuances and complexities of the child support division and the Title IV-D program, which enables her to successfully guide her clients when dealing with child support issues. Tristin has experience handling all aspects of family law matters including child support enforcement and modification, divorce, enforcement of prior orders, temporary restraining orders, and modification of prior orders.
Family conflict that leads to litigation is one of the most stressful times in a person’s life. Tristin is dedicated to improving the lives of her clients by guiding them through these often emotionally difficult situations to find the best possible solutions for the family, while advocating for her client’s rights and wishes.
Tristin began her legal career in Stephenville, Texas at a well respected general practice firm. She was an integral part of the litigation section, and gained a wide range of experience in business litigation, business formation, agricultural related litigation, estate litigation, litigation within the federal vaccine injury program, business collections, probate, wills and trusts, drafting contracts and non-compete agreements, DTPA, family law, and real estate disputes. She also successfully defended an appeal of a favorable trial judgment for a client.
Tristin is a native of Oklahoma, but moved to Georgia in 1991 with her family. Tristin graduated from Mercer University in 2002. Tristin was also chosen for membership in Order of Omega, Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, and Kappa Nu Honor Society. She received her Master’s of Mass Communication (concentration in public relations) in 2003, a program that is widely respected as one of the best public relations and journalism programs in the nation. She continued on to graduate Regent University School of Law in 2007. During law school, she participated on the competition Mock Trial team as well as serving as the Moot Court Regent Cup Competition Coordinator. Tristin was chosen for induction into the 2006-2007 James Kent American Inn of Court.
She is married and has two children. She loves to sing, ride roller coasters, and read suspense and thriller novels.
