Jerry Wayne Mooty Jr.

Jerry W. Mooty was one of the founding partners of McCathern | Mooty, LLP in 1998 and served the firm as its Managing Partner until 2012. In 2012, Jerry stepped down as Managing Partner to pursue other business interests, as well as servicing current and future clients as “Of Counsel” to the firm. Under Jerry’s leadership, in 2003 and in 2011, McCathern | Mooty was the fastest revenue growing law firm and was ranked as the 60th and 51st, respectfully, privately held company in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex by the Dallas Business Journal.

Jerry’s entrepreneurial spirit has led him to found, manage and oversee several business ventures in different industries. In 2001, Jerry was the founding/managing partner of Complete Legal, Ltd., a full-service litigation support company. In 2006, he founded and managed the real estate development firm TreVista Group, L.P. TreVista focused on large tract land development and residential development, including the construction of luxury homes, ranches and resorts.

In 2014, Jerry along with the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones Family, founded the company Blue Star Payment Solutions, LLC. Blue Star created the first merchant services’ relationship with a professional sports franchise. Mr. Mooty served as the President of the company up until it merged with a technology company in late 2015. This newly formed entity was branded Blue Star Sports and he served as the Chief Business & Legal Officer until his departure in late 2017. Blue Star Sports k/n/a Stack Sports, built through acquisition and innovation, is a full sports ecosystem that provides youth sports with an all-encompassing platform to simplify the registration, payments, and administration of youth sports leagues, clubs, associations, tournaments, and teams. Blue Star Sports received landmark investments from the Jones Family, Providence Equity Partners, WorldPay/Bain Capital and most recently Genstar Capital. Blue Star Sports has acquired 25 companies to become the world’s largest youth sports technology company.

Currently, Mr. Mooty serves as the EVP – Markets, Community & Fitness for Sharecare, Inc. Sharecare is a digital health company (founded by Jeff Arnold (founder WebMD, Oprah and Dr. Oz.) that helps people manage all their health in one place. The Sharecare platform provides each person – no matter where they are in their health journey – with a comprehensive and personalized health profile where they can dynamically and easily connect to the information, evidence-based programs and health professionals they need to live their healthiest, happiest and most productive life.

Jerry was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1969. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics with an application in Finance from Southern Methodist University in 1992 and a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law in 1996. He was licensed to practice law in the State of Texas in November 1996, and is admitted to practice law before all state courts in Texas as well as the federal district courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He serves on many boards and is a member of the Young Entrepreneur Organization.
