David M. O'Dens

From junior high onward, David O'Dens knew he wanted to be an attorney after watching trial lawyers present evidence and arguments. He now chairs SettlePou’s Creditor’s Rights & Bankruptcy practice and brings more than 35 years of commercial litigation and trial experience, including more than 100 first‑chair trials and numerous appeals. David represents creditors in workouts, foreclosures (non‑judicial and judicial), bankruptcy and adversary proceedings, commercial collections, and lender‑liability defense, and continues to handle significant litigation matters. He also defends real estate brokers and agents in disputes involving breach of contract, deceptive trade practices, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and negligence. His appellate work spans the U.S. Supreme Court, the Fifth and Tenth Circuits, and state appellate courts in Texas and Oklahoma. A former Instructor‑in‑Law at Oklahoma City University School of Law and a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, he served three terms on the City of Plano Civil Service Commission (six years as chair). He enjoys golf and reading about World War II and tailors case strategies to clients’ goals.
