Mary Dixon McKnight

I hired Mary McKnight to handle my case and protect my child's best interest and mine. The case was difficult and the opposing side had a history of family violence, abuse, stealing the minor child, not supporting minor child, and on-going non-compliances that never seemed to stop. She was paid ove...r $8,000 and never showed up to the final trial. She sent another attorney in her place to the final trial who had just barely passed the bar, was not prepared at all, had no idea how to handle the very experienced opposing counsel, and was just not capable of handling such a difficult case. Mary McKnight claimed to be in charge and put it in writing that she herself would handle my case at final trial. Most of the issues were never heard at final trial on our court date, because Mary McKnight was not there. Her last minute replacement had no idea how to regulate the time properly, a motion to continue was never filed, and Mary McKnight did nothing to protect her client or the minor child. There was an enormous imbalance of testimony creating a completely erred ruling. Mary McKnight did nothing to continue the hearing another day or clean up the mess created by her not showing up in court on trial day. After an $80,000 appeal and years invested in correcting this attorney's failure to put her client first and adhere to the "Lawyers Creed," I must share this horrible experience. My child has been through hell over the years all because Mary McKnight failed to show up and do her job, which was put her client and the child's needs first.
