I help individuals and businesses resolve disputes with the federal government, with a particular focus on tax controversy, tax litigation, IRS disputes, penalty defense, and federal court litigation.
When the IRS or another government agency says you owe money, made a mistake, missed a deadline, or violated a rule, the process can feel overwhelming. My role is to help clients understand their options, protect their rights, and develop a clear strategy for moving forward.
I represent taxpayers and businesses in IRS examinations, administrative appeals, U.S. Tax Court cases, federal refund litigation, promoter penalty matters, Employee Retention Credit disputes, PPP-related matters, collection disputes, and other high-stakes controversies involving the government.
I am a trial and appellate lawyer. I have represented clients in federal courts across the country, including the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Courts, federal appellate courts, and matters involving significant taxpayer rights issues. I recently briefed and argued a published taxpayer victory before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, resulting in a decision that expanded taxpayers’ ability to seek equitable tolling in Tax Court deficiency cases.
Clients come to me when they need someone who can explain complicated issues clearly, push back against the government when necessary, and keep the larger goal in focus. Sometimes that means resolving a matter efficiently. Sometimes it means litigating aggressively. Either way, the strategy should fit the client, not the other way around.
If you are facing an IRS notice, audit, penalty, collection issue, refund dispute, or federal tax litigation matter, I would be happy to talk through the situation and help you understand the next step.
