Shelby Law, PLLC is a full-service boutique law firm established to meet the growing legal needs of the Texoma region and beyond. Our legal services bring the experience of representing clients in courtrooms and boardrooms across the state of Texas to our location in Sherman. Our law firm is dedicated to providing every client with the respectful representation they deserve.

Our law firm was founded by Brandon S. Shelby, a 2001 graduate of Austin College in Sherman. He earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas in 2004, where he was an editor on the Texas Journal for Civil Liberties and Civil Rights. In 2002, he was honored for highest achievement in the study of Constitutional Law with a focus on the First Amendment.

Shelby began his legal career in premises and product liability litigation for clients such as Exxon Mobil and Union Carbide. He later moved on to litigating on behalf of municipalities and government entities in a wide variety of disputes ranging from employment to property matters, and involving topics as diverse as immigration law and states’ rights. His clients included Farmer’s Branch, Rowlett, Garland, Richland Hills, the Plano Civil Service Commission, the Trinity River Water Authority, and the Texas Municipal League.

Since April of 2009, Shelby has been the Chief Legal Officer for the City of Sherman. In that capacity, he is responsible for legal oversight for every city department; works as advisor to the City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission; and, serves the city’s interests on boards such as the Texas Coalition for Affordable Power (TCAP) and Oncor and Atmos Cities Steering Committees.

Shelby is also legal counsel for the Sherman Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO), helping develop economic incentive agreements with local industries such as Globitech, Kaiser, Emerson, Tyson, Panda Energy, 903 Brewers and more.

In 2011, Shelby was recognized for distinguished service to the Municipal Law Profession by the Texas City Attorneys Association. He also received Merit Certification in Municipal Law.

Having lived and worked in towns as small as Detroit, Texas (population 711) and as large as Austin, Dallas, and Los Angeles, Shelby has experienced a diverse range of municipal services and understands the challenges and advantages of each. Shelby Law endeavors to assist government in providing the best services for its citizens and to encourage citizens to demand the best from their government. Brandon and his wife, Jennifer, now reside in Sherman with their two young sons, Will and Charlie. They are active in the community, schools, and church.
