Trevor C. Theilen

I’m Trevor Theilen. For over 14 years, I practiced criminal law and administrative law (“license law”) as a Texas prosecutor. Today, I’m laser focused on protecting your freedom and your right to work.
I became a lawyer to go to court and win. I chose criminal law and license law because they give me the chance to do that regularly for individuals and small businesses. I am not afraid of judges, and I love juries. I will carefully explore and explain all of your options, but if a trial or a hearing is your best chance at success I don’t hesitate to jump in and fight for you.
My license defense work spans across all of Texas - I work remotely when possible, and travel when necessary.
My criminal defense work focuses on North Texas counties (Collin, Dallas, Denton, Rockwall, Tarrant, Kaufman, & Hunt) since criminal work usually requires in-person court appearances.
Every client and case are unique. Each one deserves representation crafted around its specific needs. My clients and I nail down exactly what they hope to achieve before we move forward. I regularly update my clients on their cases, and I expect them to keep me updated as well.
I mainly communicate with clients on the phone, through texts and emails, or on video. This approach allows me the flexibility to work with clients across the entire state and at uncommon hours. If we need to meet in person, my office is in beautiful downtown McKinney - I’m happy to meet you there by appointment.
My time as a criminal prosecutor plus my 12 years as a license prosecutor for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (also known as "TDLR”) give me experience and perspective that few other attorneys can offer. Most criminal defense attorneys practice little to no administrative law involving licenses. Most administrative law lawyers do not work in criminal courts regularly.
I spent 6 years using criminal law and administrative law for a licensing agency in special license courts. For licensed professionals facing criminal charges or licensing punishments like fines, license suspension, probation, or revocation, I can pull back the curtain and chart the best course forward.
