Worst Lawyer ever!!

I hired Howard in 2007 to help me as a single mother to protect my son from his abusive father. He did nothing for me and told the father confidential matters from my side!!! He is a joke and should not be in law. DO NOT hire this man he is rude arrogant!!

Outstanding Overall Representation

I hired the Shapiro Law Firm to represent me in a very severe matter involving criminal as well as access to my children. I was looking at the possibility of a long prison term and my parental rights being terminated. Howard and Todd Shapiro got my bail lowered to a fraction of what it was set at ori...ginally. They found the best possible scientific expert as well as experts in other areas for the trail, picked the jury with the help of a jury consultant and did an outstanding job connecting with the jury ,with a favorable outcome during the trial. They worked with the CPS and reunited me with my children. Howard exhibited great deal of professionalism all through the process. Rest of the staff like the paralegals were great too. Their billing was very accurate - never had to dispute any item on their invoice. All in all Howard Shapiro is a great and well respected attorney in the court system & I would recommend Howard and The Shapiro Law firm to anyone that requires legal representation in the area of criminal defense as well as legal matters that involve CPS.

worst lawyer

Wished I fired him a lot sooner. Please do not hire this lawyer. He cared more about getting my money, and cared nothing about me or my case, as he continually asked the same questions over and over, questions that he should easily know if he was a good lawyer, and he then would charge me for each ...time he asked the same questions again. He dragged my case out much longer than it should have in order to rack my bill up. My ex didn't even have a lawyer, and he kicked his butt in court because it was so obvious Howard Shapiro didn't know anything about our case.

They'll SCREW YOU! Didn't do anything, just took my money!

This was 6 years ago, but I must write a review so that other people won't fall to be their victim. I was referred to Howard Shapiro 6 years ago for a divorce case. 1. He was supposed to appear in court. However, 2 hours before the set time, he called me and said he had to leave town for his vacati...on. So I was left in a limb and not being able to get anything done. 2. He charged me $7,500 retainer fee without doing anything. Absolutely nothing! I drafted all the details and numbers on division of assets/property. 3. They never briefed me about decree and never told me that I could request for child support increase. 4. Their response time is VERY SLOW! 5. Their attitude is rather arrogant and rude, not cordial. 6. Because they didn't do anything about my case, I was at great disadvantage compared to my ex in the decree document, after divorce, and still to this day. I would definitely NOT recommend him nor his office.

If you want the job done right, chose this firm!

I honestly don't know what attorney these other two reviewers had but Howard, Esther and the whole office are wonderful! This team has worked hard for our case. We have had several attorneys and I only wish we would have found them and used them when we started several years ago. So much could have b...een avoided. Live and learn. Do they come cheap? Nope. You get what you pay for...ask us. Do NOT hesitate to use this firm! They are knowledgeable, direct, rational and really fight for what is right!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
